You Were Made for Rest: A Friendly Reflection
If you’re feeling bone-deep tired, soul-heavy weary, you’re in good company. I get it — life piles up: the endless to-dos, the faces who need you, the mental clutter that just won’t quit. We keep going because we have to. But here’s a secret: You were never meant to carry it all alone.
Jesus said it best:
“Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 NLT)
Notice what He doesn’t say: “Come after you’ve figured it all out” or “Come when you’re less tired.” Nope, He says come as you are, weary and burdened, and He promises rest. Not just a nap or a break from chores — but soul rest that wraps around you.
I remember a time when I thought rest meant getting everything done first. Silly, right? Now, I see rest as a deep exhale, a letting go of the pressure to be the hero. Because honestly, you don’t have to be. God is your Provider, Protector, Healer, and ever-present Help — He carries what you can’t.
So, here’s a little prayer I’ve come to lean on:
Jesus, I am weary. I confess that I’ve tried to carry too much for too long. Help me release what was never mine to hold. Thank You for seeing me in my exhaustion and inviting me into Your rest. I trust You to meet my needs — physical, emotional, spiritual. Teach me to rely on You moment by moment. I don’t have to do it all, because You already have. In Your name I rest, amen.
If you’re reading this and thinking, “Me too,” then maybe it’s time to stop hustling just a bit and rest deeper. You were made for it.
